Here’s a story for you: Instagram now has more than 600 million users, 100 million of whom joined up in just the past six months.

The rapid growth comes after a year that saw the debut of the Snapchat-like “Instagram Stories” feature that allows users to share a string of photos or videos that disappear after 24 hours. The feature has proven to be a hit for the Facebook-owned platform, which in October said that over 100 million stories were being viewed each day.

“Thank you for being you,” Instagram said in a blog post Thursday announcing the milestone. “We can’t wait to see what you’ll make next.”
